Why does The Trail of The Lake quest vanish from my quest log in World of Warcraft?

I'm a druid night elf in World of Warcraft and when I started the quest The Trail of The Lake on my way to get the aquatic form the quest just disappeared from my quest log. I've gone back to the guy in moonglade but he will no longer give me the quest. Why is this?
