Transmission won't switch gears?

now my 2000 chrysler sebring LX 4-dr 4-cyl. the dash board is completely dead, indicator lights, guages don't work and the transmission won't shift out of low gear. is there some computer that controlls the shifting of gears? i really need my car to get to work which is mostly freeway driving and i can't drive reliable on the freeway speeds in 2nd gear! LOL... somebody help!
