Family of Police Officers?

My L.E.O. husband and I have always disagreed on him carrying an off duty weapon. He says "everyone" does it and has brought up very valid points as to why he should. It makes me nervous, especially now that we have a toddler. He rarely does carry one, and puts up with my admittedly liberal ways. However, I'm secretly doubting my intolerance, and wanting some insight. What are your views of your husband, family, self, etc. carrying off duty weapons? Especially when children are around?
