Black LIke Me Book Questions? Help!?

I read the book and it incredibly boring to me. The idea was riveting but the execution was lackluster and anti climactic to say the least. In reading it I got the feeling his motives were to go down there and prove that whites were so gentile in the deep south in the 1950's, and when somethin did happen that he observed-some degredation towards blacks the author wrote from a sympathetic white viewpoint towards the particular offender & said things like "oh, that was uncalled for", or "He (offender) didn't have to do that". I felt no strong emotions in this book...it was just MEH for me. Meh. Long story short, the book was so boring I can't even remember the plot points anymore. TERRIBLE BOOK.
